Five Years

Steve and Nina are having twins and they can’t wait to share the news with the world in viral video form. But when another piece of news comes through in between the birth’s they are forced to see the world through their screens a little differently. Five Years explores our fascination with our digital lives whilst everything crumbles around us. When faced with calamity do we turn to our pillars of society or just take a selfie with the ruins?

Conor Patrick Carroll is a Irish-Scottish, London based playwright and graduate of the MA in Writing for Stage and Broadcast Media from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Specialising in human stories, told with empathy and driven by a sense of karma. He has had work produced at the LOST Theatre, Theatre 503, Camden People's Theatre, St James Theatre, Bread & Roses Theatre, Tristan Bates Theatre, Theatre N16, The North Wall Arts Centre, the Lyric Hammersmith, the Oldham Coliseum, the Oxford Playhouse, the Park Theatre and the Arcola Theatre. He is an alumni of the National Theatre Young Studio, the Tricycle Theatre Young Company and the Soho Theatre Writer's Lab and his last full length play "It Is So Ordered" ran for two weeks at the Pleasance Theatre in April 2017.

Danäe is a freelance theatre director, a Young Vic Genesis Director and Associate Artist of Brunel Arts London. Her projects usually feature all-female creative teams/casts, and explore the power of the female voice.

Remote Access

The only way Philip can cope with things is by calling for ‘remote access’ – a technician in a call centre takes control of his actions and emotions until he feels stable again. He is grateful for this service, but he can no longer afford the premium subscription and he’s worried about what will happen once he’s cut loose.

Geoffrey is a freelance director and playwright, particularly interested in new writing. He is currently workshopping his own new play Game of Governments, which will be showcased at the RADA festival on June 28th. He is also preparing a tour of his play Drowned or Saved? which played at the Tristan Bates Theatre in 2018. Previous work as a director includes Marzipan, The Android Kitten by Roberto Trippini (The Space), Five Card Stud by Ross Howard (Lantern Theatre, Brighton) and The Other Place by Sharr White (GBS Theatre). Geoffrey has assisted on major productions such as The Railway Children, and taught acting in places such as the Identity School of Acting and the Pauline Quirke Academy . Geoffrey trained in directing at RADA, after studying Drama and Theatre at Royal Holloway College.

Mike’s short film, PLANS, was shown on PBS and was an official selection at the No Hu International Film Festival and the Catskill Film Festival. Mike’s plays have been performed in London, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Santa Cruz. In addition to being a writer, Mike is also a CPA and has a Masters Degree in Computer Science, which has earned him the Triple Crown for Nerdy Professions.

Natalie is a director, actor and voiceover artist. When she's not indulging her nerdy side watching Star Trek and playing board games, she can be found in the voiceover booth voicing characters for video games, audiodramas and audiobooks, and giving demonstrations on historical weaponry!

A regular director for Stitchin Fiction and Briefs new writing nights, this marks Natalie's first time directing for the SciFi Theatre Festival. She is thrilled to be a part of telling more scifi stories through the intimate and immediate medium of theatre, even if it means she can't add lens flares everywhere!
