SCIENCE FICTION THEATRE FESTIVAL: ReGen
27th May-1st Jun 2019
Downstairs - Pleasance London,UK
It’s back! Horatio Productions’ Science Fiction Theatre Festival returns for a stellar second edition. After a successful first festival at The Space, this year Horatio Productions is landing at Pleasance Islington for a whole week of futuristic extravaganza.
16 short plays, talks with scientists, new writing, and mind-bending visions of our world that will provoke, inspire and, above all, entertain. The festival features the work of writers from all over the globe, with over 70 artists involved.
All of this, wrapped around Horatio Productions’ featured play, ReGen: What is the future of stem cell research? The paths of two strangers meet at a crossroads between vanity and guilt. Gastronomy meets surgery in a world-changing clash of egos.
Based on real groundbreaking stem cell research with the collaboration of scientists from King’s College London, ReGen will be featured every day of the festival.
Horatio Productions is specialised in new writing for science fiction theatre. Their work has been described as quirky, peculiar, and utterly bizarre. Their play, Red Button, had sold out runs both at Edinburgh Fringe and Camden Fringe. The company is heavily invested in promoting the work of international writers and artists from a diverse, intersectional background.
